Jeremiah 18:1-6
1 The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying,
2 Arise, and go down to the potter's house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words.
3 Then I went down to the potter's house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels.
4 And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.
5 Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
6 O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the Lord. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.

예레미아서 18:1-6
1 [주]로부터 예레미야에게 임한 말씀이라. 이르시되,
2 일어나 토기장이의 집으로 내려가라. 내가 거기서 너로 하여금 내 말들을 듣게 하리라, 하시기에
3 내가 토기장이의 집으로 내려갔더니, 보라, 그가 물레 위에서 물건을 만드는데
4 진흙으로 만든 그릇이 토기장이의 손에서 훼손되매 이에 그가 다시 그것으로 다른 그릇을 만들되 토기장이가 보기에 좋은 대로 그것을 만들더라.
5 그때에 [주]의 말씀이 내게 임하니라. 이르시되, 
6 [주]가 말하노라. 오 이스라엘의 집아, 내가 이 토기장이같이 능히 너희에게 행하지 못하겠느냐? 보라, 오 이스라엘의 집아, 진흙이 토기장이의 손에 있는 것 같이 너희가 내 손에 있느니라.

 

Text Verse (핵심구절) 
4. as seemed good to the potter to make it.
4. 토기장이가 보기에 좋은 대로 그것을 만들더라.

God told the prophet Jeremiah to go to the potter's house... I want to speak to you there!... I have a messagge for you there. 
Jeremiah was obedient. 
하나님께서는 대언자 예레미아에게 토기장이의 집으로 가사 말씀하셨습니다. "내가 그곳에서 너에게 말하겠다." "내가 그곳에서 네게 줄 메세지가 있다." 
그리고 예레미아는 순종했습니다. 

Jeremiah saw the potter working on the wheels: there were normally two wheels;
1. The lower wheel was worked by the feet to give motion to the upper wheel.
2. The upper wheel was a flat plate or disc that the potter laid clay onto to be molded as it rotated. 

예레미아는 토기장이가 물레 위에서 작업하고 있는 것을 보았습니다. 물레는 두 가지로 이루어져 있습니다. 
1. 아랫물레는 토기장이의 발로 작동하는데, 이것은 윗 물레가 움직이는 동력을 제공합니다. 
2. 윗물레는 납작한 판이나 원판으로 토기장이가 진흙을 놓고 돌리면서 작품을 만듭니다. 

I. He saw the wheels moving; this got the clay in the best position to be molded.
a. God knows how to move us in the best position to be molded. 
When God turns the wheels in your life, He moves you to:
....a new job
...a new city
...a new school
...a new responsibility
I. 그는 이 물레가 움직이는 것을 보았습니다. 이 물레에는 진흙이 도기로 만들어 지기에 최적의 위치였습니다.
a. 하나님께서는 우리의 삶을 빚으시기 위한 가장 최적의 위치를 아시며 또 이를 위해 우리를 어떻게 이끌어야 할 지 아시는 분입니다.
하나님께서 우리를 그분의 물레 위에서 돌리실 때, 그분은 우리를:
...새로운 직장으로
...새로운 도시로
...새로운 학교로
...새로운 책임의 자리로 이끄실 수 있습니다. 

We have to trust God's intentions with you when He starts to move you. 
When the wheels begin turning, the clay knows, "The potter's getting ready to do something with me."
b. The clay was marred in the potter's hand.
The clay was broken down; its old form was done away with! 
우리는 하나님께서 우리를 움직이기 시작하실 때, 그분의 목적을 신뢰해야 합니다.
이 물레가 돌기 시작할 때, 물레 위에 놓인 진흙은 압니다. "토기장이가 나에게 어떤 일을 행하는 구나..."
b. 그리고 이 진흙 그릇은 토기장이의 손에 의해서 훼손됩니다(깨어집니다). 
이 그릇은 이제 깨졌고 이것의 이전 모양은 이제 없습니다.

"...  so he made it again another vessel..."
"... 그가 다시 그것으로 다른 그릇을 만들되..." 

2 cor 5:17 "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."
고린도후서 5:17 "그런즉 누구든지 그리스도 안에 있으면 그는 새로운 창조물이라. 옛 것들은 지나갔으니, 보라, 모든 것이 새롭게 되었도다."

Verse 4 says "... the vessel was remade according to what seemed good to the potter."
The clay was made according to what:
...the potter wanted 
...the potter desired
...the potter liked or preferred.
본문 4절은 "... 토기장이가 보기에 좋은 대로" 그릇을 다시 만들었다고 말합니다. 
이 깨어진 진흙 그른은 다시 만들어 졌습니다.
...토기장이가 원하는 대로
...토기장이가 바라는 대로
...토기장이가 좋아하고 선호하는 대로

Rom 9:20-21
20 Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?
21 Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?
로마서 9:20-21
20 아니라, 오 사람아, 네가 누구이기에 [하나님]께 대꾸하느냐? 지어진 것이 자기를 지은 이에게 말하기를, 어찌하여 나를 이렇게 만들었소, 하겠느냐?
21 토기장이가 같은 덩어리의 진흙으로 한 그릇을 만들어 존귀에 이르게 하고 다른 하나를 만들어 수치에 이르게 할 권한이 없겠느냐?

II.  God's message to Jeremiah, to Israel and to us is seen in verse 6
a. God said, "Can't I do with you the same thing this potter with the clay?"
None of us could stay the way that we were or can stay the way we are... we are continually being molded and made by the Master Potter that is our God. 
예레이아를 향한 하나님의 말씀, 곧 이스라엘, 그리고 우리를 향한 하나님의 뜻은 6절에서 찾을 수 있습니다.
하나님은 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. "내가 이 토기장이 처럼 너에게 할 수 없느냐?"
우리 중 그 누구도 예전의 나, 지금의 내 모습에 머물러서는 안 됩니다. 우리는 계속해서 우리의 하나님, 최고의 토기장이이신 그분의 손으로 빚어지고 만들어져 가야 합니다.

When new challenges, new locations, new responsibilities come our way... Don't be alarmed
God may just be moving us into a position to be molded by Him, for His glory.
새로운 도전, 새로운 곳, 새로운 책임들이 내 삶에 찾아올 때, 놀라거나 두려워하지 않아도 됩니다. 
하나님은 단지 우리를 빚으시기 위해 그문의 물레 위에 우리를 올려두신 것 뿐입니다. 그분의 영광을 위해서 말이죠...
